Kamarooka Project
Owned by Kralcopic Pty Ltd Mining Licence Application 5446 is located at Kamarooka, 20 kilometres north east of the City of Bendigo. The Mining licence is currently under application and covers the Jones Reef area near Kamarooka, identified by exploration work undertaken within EL3632 (Kralcopic P/L) which has expired.
EL3632 was acquired to explore for Fosterville style gold mineralisation around areas of historical workings at Kamarooka (i.e. disseminated sulphide hosted fine gold). Work has also indicated the presence of Bendigo style (coarse gold) mineralisation in a structurally complex fault zone.
MIN 5446 has been marked out to further investigate this zone.
Previous Exploration
Jervois Mining P/L completed a percussion drilling program across the Jones Reef area in the 1990s. Twenty drillholes were completed totalling 1246 metres.
The drilling revealed a 30 metre wide zone containing three lines of mineralisation. Sporadic grades encountered ranged from a background 0.05 g/t to a high value of 37.6 g/t gold.
Kralcopic P/L completed a trenching program in the late 1980s revealing significant grades at surface over substantial widths. Trench 1 revealed 11 metres at 1.29 g/t while trench 2 returned 5 metres at 0.11 g/t.
Additionally three percussion drillholes were completed which intersected a 20 metres wide zone of quartz veining with a best grade of 1 metre at 2 g/t gold.
The results of this work indicate that the mineralisation is present in two separate zones and is controlled by a series of west dipping faults. Gold mineralisation is of a coarse nature reflecting a Bendigo style.
Work to date by Kralcopic suggest that the mineralisation observed at Jones Reef is present as two distinct north west plunging structural zones formed by the intersection of regional north south striking, west dipping faults with north east striking, north west dipping ‘oblique’ structures.
After listing Greater Bendigo intends to complete its assessment of the project by carrying out the following work:
- Comprehensive 3D computer modelling of all available data to outline the mineralisation zones and enable the preparation of a feasibility study into the best method of mining these zones. The current data set is paper and requires conversion to digital data for assessment.
- Test the economics of the model using various mining and economic parameters.
- Undertake further bulk sampling of outcropping zones to assess the effect of the nugget factor on drill assay data at Kamarooka.
- Complete the application for the Mining Licence.
